95 GT ABS dismantle, how easy?
 

I've got a '95 GT vert project that I'm wrapping up. There is an issue with braking, at low speed stops (all stops are low speed at some point), the anti-lock kicks in (right around 20MPH until it stops) like I'm slipping. There's no lock up at all and all the wheels are obviously spinning at the same speed, and I can't figure out what would cause the ABS to kick in? All the toner rings are there and the sensors seem fine, I don't get an idiot light for the ABS? I thought I could just yank out the main ABS fuse under the hood but that triggered the light. Any ideas? How can I easily remove the system without causing any trouble light. Eventually I want to figure it out but it's not going to be driven in wet or snow so not really necessary so yanking it might be easiest to pass inspection.

you can't disable it without tripping the light. So, pull the bulb that causes the light. Takes about 10 minutes. Then go under the rear seat and pull one or both of the rear ABS sensor connectors. They're mounted to the forward bulkhead on either side under the rear seat.

That will disable the TC and ABS. Once you get used to it the ability to spin and lock em up is better to have than not to have.

I guess that will work, plus relatively easy to reverse if I ever decide (in 20 years) to restore it back to original.

So what is the advantage of diabling the ABS? Just curious.

I personally had more trouble induced by ABS than it had ever saved me. If I had to brake in a sharp turn, like pulling into a parking space that faces downhill, it'd pulse the ABS and damn near run me into the curb. The ABS kicked in all the damned time at the worst time and don't even get me started on the traction control. That's some nightmare shiat right there. Disable and enjoy your car how FSM meant it to be or, disable and learn to drive your car, then enjoy. Use as appropriate.

In the case of my '95, it does it with every single stop. It's annoying and I'm pretty sure they'll flag me when I finally get it all together and take it in for inspection, unless I disconnect it alltogether. I've tried all the "cheap parts" to fix it, speed sensors and toner rings so my gut tells me it's the ABS control module that's acting odd but I don't want to just replace it to see. I'll figure it out someday, in the meantime, I'll enjoy driving without it.
