that's exactly what it is. it's a sensored unit... as the brakes wear more fluid is in the lines as the pistons are extended farther to bring the pads closer to the rotors. Change your brakes or if you just recently did and took some fluid out, then add a little fluid. If you haven't bled your brakes and your brakes aren't leaking then there is no reason to ever add fluid. If you bleed them, then adding fluid is reasonable...otherwise it just causes you to have to pull some out with the next set of new brakes.
