short block/long block

What is the difference? VTengines sells the "short" and "long" but what is the difference/definition?

Well i found out the answer, i think. If there werent so many damn filters on the internet over here i wouldnt ask "easy to find questions". But the "long" block comes fully assembled right, and short block is just the internals MINUS the heads/cams. On VT they say the shipping weight of a aluminum block is 147lbs. What is the weight of the stock iron block? They are starting to block google and cant search too much to find it out.

one more thing...VT stage 3 heads says at the bottom they are not recommended for the standard bore. Why? what does that mean?

Short block is block with crank, pistons, rods, bearings, rings, and freeze plugs thats about it, some might give you an oil pan also.

Long block is that plus top end with things like heads, intake, cam or cams if its a mod motor,etc.. Its not going to have everything like pulleys fuel rails etc.. thats only on turn key crate motors.

As for the stage 3 heads i would guess the valves are to wide for stock bore, but i dont know the specs of VT heads.
