Rear seat delete - worth it? Pro's Con's?

I was thinking of pulling the rear seat on my 99 GT Convertible to make up at least some of the weight gained by having the vert, and also, 99.9% of the time i'm the only one in the car anyway ;-)

What are some reputable places to get the delete kit? MT doesn't seem to carry them. Also, are there any downsides (other than the obvious fact that you are losing person capacity ;p). Are there any other obvious (and cheap preferably) ways to lose some weight on the stang?

You won't loose enough weight to make a difference! :) ...I'd leave them on!

yup. there isn't that much of a weigh difference. if you want to really save weight, get a set of racing seats and yank the two buckets.

if you still want the rear seat delete, i know california mustang carries it.

you guys are nuts you lose something like 50 pounds or was it 65 pounds by getting a RSD, and most RSD only weight around 14pounds.

It depends on if you have leather or not, but either way, it's at the very least 45 pounds. Cheapest place for a RSD? Lowes...buy yourself some material and make your own. Most pre-made ones are ridiculously expensive.

You can drop 40-60lbs by taking out your rear seat assembley. Get some big pieces of cardboard and cut out the patterns you will need for the back and the bottom part. Cut the material your going to use (thin metal, 1/4"masonite..etc) to fit. Hit it with 3M spray adhesive and put some interior matching carpet on it and your done. Your looking at $25.

thats my plan :)

Exactly, its definately worth it if you do it yourself or you find a cheap one. Some people pull out almost 70 lbs back there. Thats worth it if you are looking for a cheap way to go faster. Id try and build my own, but I still drive people around sometimes.

im deff going this route .. cuz i drive no one around and i need room for my tank of gas ... im to cheap for a bottle opener lol
