Battery buildup

Around one of the sides (i dont remember positive or negative) or my battery theres alot of build up around it. This didnt worry me because ive seen it happen b4. But when u lift up the plastic thing covering the cable there is ALOT of build up and i cant tell if its corroded or not. This looks like it could be a problem...should i take it in?

EDIT: Just looked its all over the positive side

Is it white. Then it is calcium build up. Take some baking soda and water or Coca Cola will remove the calium build up. Use a tooth brush too.
Hope that helps.

Use baking soda and water to nuetralize the acid on the terminals. Then remove the terminals, both of them, and clean them with a wire brush. When they are shiny clean, reinstall and rinse the area with plenty of water.

Thanks a bunch

I have an optima battery now but I would use those donuts that go on the terminal to prevent that build up.

venom 06-02-2005 01:57 PM
