Just a quick break question
What is the difference between the regular brake line and the stainless ones
|
They are tougher, look better. They don't swell up like regular brake lines. But they have their disadvantages. You can't tell when they are going bad, because the teflon is inside the line. So if it goes, your f-ed.
If you drive your car everyday, i'd stick to regular ones. Just my .02. |
a good quality stainless line is far superior to a rubber only line. your brakes will be easier to modulate and your brake pedal will have a nice, confidence inspiring, harder feel.
|
stainless doesnt swell so the pedal is firmer and gives better feedback threw the pedal. Stainless lines will leak just as a regular one so your screwed either way. There more then fine on daily drivers.

I can't understand why car makers don't use stainless for all cars
|
ok then its not a big thing to do on my list thanks
i can live with what ive got |
if it isnt broke, dont break it... so basically if its working for ya now, leave it alone until you have to replace them.
has been my experience... |
I have them its a nice difference, but i wouldnt buy them again to be honest. On my F150 the lines really swelled and made the pedal really soft, but the mustangs pedal has always been pretty stiff. You should save the money and get some GT take off wheels.:smokin:

Car makers don't use SS lines due to cost. Anything w/ the word Stainless is astronomical in price for automakers. Personally though, go w/ the Stainless since not only does it provide a better pedal feel, the Stainless braiding protects the lines from anything the could damage it (i.e. stuff rubbing against it).

for a v6 car... don't bother. The v8 cars are heavier and take more brake power to stop.. the 6's are light enough that stock brakes are more than sufficient.
