SCT Programmer - repogrammable?
My friend just got a new mach 1 and it came with a sct tuner with the tunes i'm assuming.. now he said I could use it for my car if I promised to return it.
Will the mach1's tune(car has new exhaust slp) be any different from my gt(has new intake and exhaust). Do I have to send it back to get a tune for my car or can I just use the mach1s tune? |
No you can not use it.It is matched to the Mach 1 and will only work with it.Also the tune for the Mach would mess up your GT bad if it would work.
You would have to return the Mach to the stock tune and then send it in to be programed for your GT,which would make it so it could'nt be used on the Mach. |
arent they locked to the VIN of the vehicle that you first plug it into?

oh ok i thought the VIN got stored on the actual programmer...thanks for that info

Its programmed to the PCM code. 3 letters, one number. Yours wont match.

so let me see if I got this right, I buy a SCT programmer, use it to tune my car, then total my car at a track day in a month. With my car totaled, I cant retune it to stock, so now i cant use the same programmer on the Stang that I replace my old one with? Assuming it is the same type Stang (99-04gt, yadda yadda yadda....)
