Starter motor issues...

I installed an off-road pro chamber on my red mach not too long ago and this procedure was simple. I removed the two bolts from the starter and disconnected the wiring and threw the starter aside and this gave me plenty of room to work around the bolts where the exhaust manifolds meet the mid pipe... Nice and simple...

Well I started working on my black mach and I CAN'T GET THIS F***IN STARTER OFF! I got so frustrated with it yesterday that I left it on the ramps and gave up for fear I was going to get pissed enough to break something lol.

Someone tell me I'm doing something stupid and it's a simple issue... Why won't that starter come off?

Thanks in advance...

You shouldnt have to take the starter off, its the same pipe regaurdless for the gts and mach ones, i just sprayed some pb blaster on my GT and found the right combo of extensions that would let me get the socket to the manifolds and they came right off

There are 3 bolts. There is a bolt on top that everyone misses.

Yep, figured that one out after looking at an after market starter... And no, you don't HAVE to take it off but damn does it make things easier lol. I prefer to use good ol' wrenches (well, ratcheting craftsman wrenches that is) so as not to strip anything. My friend used sockets to do the swap and really ruined some of the bolts. I prefer my work to look pretty factory-ish lol.

Anyway, thanks for the advice all. This one's a closed case!
