Starting Up Question
 

Not sure what forum this belongs in exactly, but I think that it qualifies here. Anyway, I have a 2000 V6 Mustang and whenever the car sits for about 10+ hours or so, it seems to be hesitant to start up. I also have a keyless start up and it can sometimes fail to start up once or twice then proceed to turn on. This problem is especially worse in the winter time and even fails more often. I figured that it might of been the cold conditions but the problem proceeds. If anyone can help me out with this and have any possible solutions I would definately appreciate it. when was the last tune up? ie spark plugs,fuel filter general maintance.

you have a voltage leak to ground. it's draining the battery. the hesitation is what you'd expect with less than ideal amps available. I recently left my car sitting for 10 days with my guages left on and it took over a week of driving and turning off my guages and radar detector to bring it back to reliable starting.

Its been about 8 months.


How'd you go about fixing this problem?

Not to be a wise ass, but you are either getting too much or too little, spark, fuel, or air. Running too rich at start, having an stuck IAC, bad plugs, poor battery can cause what you explain. Take a look at each, and rule out, one by one.
