that's pretty decent advice, although it was a bit different installing my eibachs on my cobra.

make sure you've got a good spring compressor. if you want to reuse the original spring isolators, you can, but they're rubber. energy suspensions makes a nice urethane isolator that works much better.

you should only need hand tools for this job. having an extra set of hands always helps. the fronts should be the easier of the two to remove, but since this is a GT you don't have to worry about the IRS in the back.

I heard you don't need a spring compressor..I've never used one...my friend does have one that she offered me, do you think it would make the job easier?

if she is offering you to use it for free, than yeah go ahead. it will make it a little easier but is not needed.

She works with me and I just asked her but she said her garage is torn up right now and she said it would be a pain to find it...I figure I just need to support the contrrol arm with my hydralic jack and unbolt everything, then drop it very slowly so the spring doesn't kill me. Isn't that the gist of it?

yes, having a spring compressor will make it much easier.

you technically don't need them for the front, since you can lower the control arm enough to wedge them out, but there is a lot of tension in these springs so i wouldn't take any chances.

i saw you posted this at the WH site. don't ask them tech questions, since most of them don't know ****.

LOL...I think I might attempt it without the spring comressor and lower the control arms very slowly but if I did need one can you get them from an autoparts store for a rental fee? JIC

I know Im going to use one, and I know that you can rent them at like autozone or advanced and its free, you just have to pay the deposit and then when you bring the tool back, you get your deposit back, so its basically free. Good luck, be careful and post some pics when its done.

The spring compressor is more work then its worth, just jack up the car high enough and support under the k-member mount with a jack stand. usually on the 3rd notch depending on your stand. support the control arm, and unbolt the caliper, struts, tierod end, stabalizer bar, ect. and lower the arm slow. it will get to the point to where the jack is completley down just push down on the a-arm and pull the spring out, there is VERY LITTLE pressure on it at this point. the eibachs are shorter and will pop right in just line up the tang on the spring with where it will go in the a-arm and slowley raise with the jack to make sure it is still inline when it contacts the a-arm. I have done 6 sets on different freinds cars plus changed mine out twice and never used a compressor. Just a have a friend to help and with airtools can have all four done in about an hour, if using manual tools add about 15 min.

i disagree. i would rather be safe than try to shortcut the work.

it really didn't take me that long to pull out the springs with the compressor.

I think I'll go to Autozone and get the compressor just in case I need it.

Spring compression tool is not needed unless you will be installing stock springs back on, if its lowered springs it will go in easy. I did a set for my bros 01 stang a few months ago and have done this many times http://www.mustangtuningforums.com/s...nstall+springs

I actually printed that thread as well for the instructions...I probably won't get the compressor cuz i think autozone is closed Monday...I'll just do it with out it.

Thanks for help guys...I finished it without the compressor...the only problem that I had was smacking the big bolt loose to drop the spring...I must have spent 45 minutes on one side with a sledge then I ended up taking off the 2 bolts that hold the shock on and I was able to drop the whole assembly with the brake and rotor...after doing that I didn't even try to mess with the bolt on the other side...I did the same thing and had that spring out in like 10 minutes. Anyways I posted a before and after in the picture section...thanks again :notworthy

Thats the way I have done it I dont mess with the strut nut on top.

i did drag springs without a compressor. those long ass front springs were a beeotch

Getting the front springs in was kind of crappy but i just used a big ass screwdriver to pry them on. The backs were way easier.

I used a Big 1in box wrench to pry it out plus my bro pushed down on the control arm.

Yeah...that bolt pissed me off...after seeing that we could drop the whole assembly it was like 10 minutes from there...Luckily my dad was there to lend a hand.
