Auto Trans Problem - Stuck in Park on my AOD - '96 GT

Well I have changed out the Stoplight switch and the brake/neutral cable and it hasn't changed anything. I checked all of the fuses also just to play it safe and the problem is still there.

No brake lights, turn signals and it won't shift out of park.

Did you change the little green lever thing on the brake? Its green with a white rod.

Nope. What does it do?

The only other thing I was thinking about (outside of wiring) was the MLP.

I am taking it in today to have to trouble shot to see what they come up with.

It was your problem, too late now though.

I will look at it also. You never know. I was also told it was the stoplight switch and brake neutral safety cable. I replaced both of them and still nothing. But I will check into this.

Did you put your foot on the brake and push the button on the shifter :) j/k

Dang it! I knew that I forgot something.:boink: But I am going to look into this: "little green lever thing on the brake? Its green with a white rod and see what happens.

yea i was kinda wondering what that thing was. i don't think it's connected to anything on my car, it's a manuel, does that make a difference w/this green lever thingymabopper?

Sir Charles 07-12-2007 07:18 PM

Well come to find out that the turn signal switch and harness in my steering column was fried so I am swapping it out and we'll see what happens.

v6'stang 07-12-2007 07:31 PM

Don't know, but the switch was hot and smelled too. Maybe it's just because it's a '96 and things just go bad.

v6'stang 07-13-2007 10:18 AM

that is true. everything's gotta go sumtime.

Sir Charles 07-13-2007 10:28 AM

Just makes me wonder what other wires will be going out now?

v6'stang 07-13-2007 10:40 AM

who knows, it's a crapshoot to predict that stuff. there's a lot of variables that come into effect with wires. could have rubbed against a bold and got messed up. esp. in a car it's hard to tell. just gotta fix the problems as they arrise.

Sir Charles 07-13-2007 02:06 PM

True. It just chaps my hide when it boils down to a sensor. I had my A/C check out today and it was working because of a $28 dollar sensor.

v6'stang 07-13-2007 02:47 PM

lol yea that does suck. or when ur car won't start because of one. to hell with sensors, lol.

Sir Charles 07-16-2007 09:15 PM

But its cool, it's still a mustang and it's mine.
