Auto Trans hard 2nd gear shifting
 

:t: Hello I,m new to the forum. I just bought a 99 GT Conv. I noticed that when i take of hard from a stop, that it shifts hard into 2nd gear,all the rest seem smooth. What would be the best thing to look at?
The car has 94000 miles,and i had the trans flushed, but still hard into 2nd. Thanks Neal

When you say "hard', do you mean it will chirp the tires or that it has difficulty finding the gear.

The car may have had a shift kit that intentionally makes 2nd gear delayed a little in the rpm band and it shifts hard (will chirp the tires)

If a shift kit has not been installed, then I think you might want to have the line pressure adjusted on the tranny. The AOD trans have a line pressure adjustment at the throttle body. If your throttle body is not stock (or the EGR spacer) then your line pressure adjustment might be out of whack.

If it is the line presssure, it could cause long term issues with the tranny if not put back into Spec ranges

It doe's not chirp the tires, but that,s it. When i had the fluid flush done, he said the pressure was about 25psi on the machine, from the trans pump. Is that to high? And is that somethig i can do?
The slower i take off, the eaiser it shifts. Everthing is stock.
