im not 100% sure but i think you have to take apart the entire differential to do that. so that means re-installing it is going to take some rear-end know how. if you've never rebuilt a rear end i suggest taking it to a shop. there are a lot of thomgs to pay attention too. I've found out that a gear install costs about $250-$300, so this would pretty much be the same.

to pull the pinion.. hell that's easy. Remove the driveshaft, axles, diff, and pinion nut (you should probably have air tools or this is near impossible). Smack the pinion at the snout with a big ass hammer. The pinion pops into the pumpkin. All done. The bearing must be pressed off with a hydraulic press but it can be removed from the case with the bearing still on the pinion. Take it to a shop for the press-off press-on treatment.

yeah u make it sound so easy but u need to check all the torques and preload specs and when the differential cover is off there is all the gearing inside there so how does the pinion just pop right out into the punpkin?? see what i need is to know how to take the diff apart and install it all correctly again!!!

Your next statement belies this one. It would seem removal isn't your problem. Removal and reinstall is different from removal.

You can't. You don't know how so you cannot do it. Reading a book will not tell you how to read gear engagement or feel the crush sleeve pre-load. I know all the torque and preload specs but I STILL don't do my own gears because so much of it is "feel".

Take your car to the shop, have it fixed. You are stuck. I've told you twice now. Get help in person.
