v6'stang 05-20-2007 04:59 PM

with the v12 in that thing, the drive is sitting on the engine..that's the part they don't want ya to know about! lol

Quick, someone put the 6.8 V10 in their Mustang so that we can still beat that kraut kompactor.

r3dn3ck 05-21-2007 08:28 AM

That was actually what I was originally going to do with my car but the whole thing seemed like too much of a PITA so I decided to go 5.4.

There's actually someone who used to post on this site that claimed a buddy of his had done that. Personally I think it would run like crap, it has such a long stroke. The Triton V10 is better as a truck engine.

jjtgiants 05-21-2007 12:30 PM

jesus, does that thing pop a wheelie at WOT!

I doubt it. It produces a smoke show and pulls the back end out, more than likely.

The 5.4 has the same stroke and Ford has no problem running it in the Cobra R/GT/GT500/GT500KR/GT500 Super Snake, etc. Just because it's a truck engine doesn't mean you can't get power from it. Look at the old FE, 351M, and 400 engines. All were truck engines (the FE wasn't really but it was the same as the FT which was in the trucks, just less beefy) with large strokes and those found their ways into the Mustang, Cobra, Pantera (351C but the 351M/400 is based on it w/ a different bellhousing pattern), etc. Provided yes, you can't rev too high with them but if you want to make power that high in the rpm band, then good luck driving your car on the street.

...yeah and when your actually using all those 650 horses, 95% of the time you'll find yourself a telephone pole.

spike_africa 05-21-2007 09:51 PM

that thing is sooo damn ugly in my book.

To take this thread off topic for 2 minuties.

In reguard to the V10 in the stang ive seen it done twice. Let me tell you - in a Mustang it ****ING SUCKS.

r3dn3ck 05-22-2007 08:37 AM

the v10 is a beautiful thing but it's heavier than it needs to be and the 2v heads just aren't helping matters. Apart from that tuning, wiring, plumbing are all big problems. The ease of doing the 5.4 (even with the 2v heads) made it worthwhile for me.

And yes... the v10 is just a 5.4 with 2 extra cylinders. Uses the same rods and pistons.

caballo 05-22-2007 04:17 PM

Ford has thought about it...

Hell... MM&FF did an article on it...

caballo 05-22-2007 04:20 PM

so have some other people
