FR500 Steering Wheel

So, who has it? Who has felt it? I think I want one...its only 160 bucks...seems like an overlooked good mod.

MattJ 05-09-2007 07:03 PM

ive driven mustangs with them. they are same style just a little thicker to give a more sporty feel and look. they are really comfortable.

spike_africa 05-09-2007 08:47 PM

ricer mod.

lmao. yeah a more comfy, perforated leather, non flashy steering wheel that retains all stock functions sure is ricy. :kekekegay:

spike_africa 05-09-2007 08:49 PM

Sorry, i can just see 160 bucks going ot alot better things then a steering wheel. So i do see it as a ricer mod.

ok, 160 bucks for...ok name something that is that cheap that most of us dont already have.

Its one of few parts of the car that you touch and see EVERY time you get in and drive...so, IMO, its a good, functional mod. Making it not ricy. There isnt hardly any other mod you can do for 160 that makes as big of an impact.

To each his own anyways.

spike_africa 05-09-2007 09:00 PM

mac pro dumps, shifter, used drag radials, gears, subframe connectors, springs, mid pipe, control arms, hrm others im sure. i just dont get it as it just a fatter stock style wheel. I have seen and touched it in person i dont get the big deal over it. I dont know it just doesnt make much sense to me i guess.

quite a few of those mods are well over 160bucks.

Just a small, inexpensive touch to make the car feel better in my hands. personal preference...I prefer a thicker wheel and that really is the only one I can get if I wanna keep my airbag and cruise buttons. :breakdancesmilie:

the FR500 is the best mod I've done :Woot:

since we spend virtually all of our time in our Mustangs touching the steering wheel, I don't see how changing it to one that feels better, looks better and is made with a better quality covering can be considered a bad mod?...heck I've got 135,000 miles on FR500 wheel and I'm thinking about getting a new one ;)

I don't get peoples definition of rice these days. Just because someone wants to put a FORD part on their FORD car, doesn't mean it's rice. $160 isn't bad especially if you already have most basic mods. Would putting on cobra side skirts be considered rice? Considering it is an appearance part. I say go for it buck-o.hahaha

jjtgiants 05-10-2007 11:42 AM

I'm not sure I'd spend $160 on that kind of a mod, but I say go for it if you want it! If adding a ford part to your car is rice, I'm very confused on what that term even means.

Codiddy 05-10-2007 12:01 PM

i have to agree that it isn't a rice mod. it's a ford part that retains all the original functions, and he will be using it everytime he gets in the car. go for it ziggy!

I Like it!

Thanx for the link Ziggy! I like it I guess. In that pic it looks like either perforated leather or carbonfiber-ish LOL. But its different, which is why I would prolly get one for my pony. :boink:

Its perforated leather and thicker than the stock wheel. should feel better that the thinner stock wheel.

and here it is installed. a few pics to show the difference as well. Install took about 30 minutes not counting the 10minute wait period to let the airbag power down. I love it...makes the car feel better and its a much more comfy wheel to use...softer too. looks great. I highly suggest all the 99-04 guys to pick one up...its well worth the 160 bucks.

man...that looks so good...makes me wana get a new one...

the perforations are almost all worn off mine :(

zigzaggthefag321 05-12-2007 04:40 PM

Yeah my interior smells like leather again too... This is a GREAT mod to have...it makes the driving experience SO much better. I had been wanting a thicker wheel for a long time. The car feels easier to turn...honestly I am surprised how much of a positive difference the wheel makes.

4.6 Love 05-12-2007 04:42 PM

I'd pass on it...

of course you would.

Its amazing to me how anyone would not want something that improves the feel of their car and makes such a positive impact on the driving experience...and for less than 200 bucks. seems like a no-brainer to me. I would have gotten it long ago when I got my short shifter had I known it was available at the time.

dookie2365 05-12-2007 08:07 PM

ill wait till my steering wheel looks like shit, then id pick 1 up to replace it.
