Installed Accufab today - Help
 

Ok, I got the accufab plenum and TB 75mm and installed it today. everything is hooked up correctly, running good, however this is what i am seeing.

idle is at 850-900 rpm @ idle

when i give it some gas the rpm goes up in the 2k range and then drops to 1500 and when i stop completely it will slowly get to 900 rpm. If i travel get to second gear, drop it to neutral, it hangs around 2k and 1500. Now when the stock one was on there, if i threw it in neutral, it would get back down to 700 750 rpm.

anyone else experience this. I dont, any help please.

when i got my tb combo it did petty much the same. i also installed the Mac intake the same day. when i started the car it would hang in about 2k rpm. then it slowly would go down to its proper idle level. the same when i got off first gear. it did this for about a wk or so. then it got better. to this day i still dont know why the rpms were hanging. see what happens in the nexr couple of days. by the way, what part of Virginia Beach u at?

There are LOTS of people with idle issues after this swap and there are a number of reasons for it. here are some tips:

1 - Be sure to reset your computer after the swap.

2 - The TPS get damaged a lot of time trying to take them off. A hanging idle is often times the result of either a high base idle setting or a damaged TPS.

3 - For whatever reason, these swaps seem to exasperate dirty IAC's. Always a good idea to clean it when doing the swap. Although, I don't think this is your problem.

4 - Make SURE the base idle is set correctly. To do this, start the car and while at idle, unplug the IAC wire harness. The car should chug and bug but NOT die. It should not idle high or smoothly. If it does, the base idle is set too high. If it dies, the base idle is set too low. Either way, the idle set screw requires adjustment. Be SURE to mark the screw with something to indicate your starting point in case you need to turn it back to the factory setting.

5 - Some of these after-market TB's do not close properly! If they don't, you will get a hanging idle or a high idle. The only way to fix this is to have it replaced. Before installing the TB, you need to hold it up to the light with the blade closed to be sure you are not getting any light through the blade. If so, then you will get air and this will cause the idle to hang and rev high.

When I put my Accufab 75mm T/B and plenum on it did the same I put a 1/2 inch copper cap with a 1/4 inch hole drilled in it in the tube that connects the black box to the plenum. No idle hangs now. :laughing7

am i going to have this problem with a 70mm thats on the way? my car is an automatic... and should i change anything with my predator to accomadate for the new tb and plenum?

From what i have seen here and other forums, the general concensus with this is to give it a couple of days and it will fix itself.

so i will try that and see what happens.

No programing changes. The problems associated with the idle issues are all mechanical.
