Cold Air intake system engine light on HELP!!!

I just installed a cold air intake system on 2005 Mustang.
The engine light came on. I checked other forums and some said the only way to get rid of the engine check light is to tune the car.
What does it mean to tune the car? And how do I fix this problem?
Is ther a particular place I have to go to "tune" the car? HELP!!!

you need a hand held tuner, or the car dyno tuned for the change.

What CAI do you have and where did you purchase it from?

The newer Mustangs (05+) have computers which are very sensitive. Adding a CIA to them requires in most cases to have the tune changed. You can actually cause some real problems by not addressing this issue.

"Tuning" a car means a lot of different things and there is more to cover then I can possibly type. But in short, a "tune" means that the car is running at the correct air/fuel ratio. Adding a CIA can cause this to change which means that the tune needs to be corrected.

This can be done with either a chip or a hand-held tuner. These devices store a program which get uploaded to the car's ecu. This can be done with eithe a "mail order" tune from a qualified programmer/retailer or by placing the car on a dyno and customizing the tune to the specific car.

bet it's a GMS...

The car is probably running lean (too much air, not enough fuel). Where are you located?

it's gunna be in limp mode if it's because of the CAI. disconnect battery for 10 minutes, switch back to stock, get a XCal2 and try again.

The 2005 + Mustangs are sensitive when adding bolt on parts such as CAI, Tuning the car changes the parameters such as air flow, fuel etc.. buy the way the computer reads it, if you have a local speed shop there they can help you

Just wondering, did you disconnect the battery before / after the install ? On my 02 it is recommended to do this so the comp. can relearn the new install , just a guess.
