2005 GT Exhaust Question

What does everyone think about the Magnaflow Catted X-Pipe and their axle back exhaust? Also, what type of headers would you recomend, shorty or long tube? And which company?

Unless you are pumping out a good bit of power, the stock exhaust is actually pretty good. However, the stock manifolds are a different story. If you want ever last bit of power, get long tubes. If you have to deal w/ emissions, shorties on the 05+ make pretty good power.

Long tube headers
EXHAUST IMO is a personal thing. some people like it some dont. I like borla and flowmaster i think they sound good. my friend has magnaflow i think it sounds good but i wouldnt buy it. its all up to you and what make you happy.

replacing the h pipe with an x will only change the sound a little... get rid of some rumble for some rasp. The stock h is pretty good, replacing it gains zero power so if you're gunna do it then do it for sound only. I like magnaflow's back halfs. They sound good to me. If you like how they sound get em. Still... no power gain on the axle back either.

header

I'm in Virginia. Do you know if long tube headers would void emissions? Also, what is the difference regarding long tube headers and shorties. If I install long tube headers would I have to modify/cut the x-pipe or would it fit right in like shorties?

Shorties are just bolt in. Long tubes on the other hand will require either shortening of the stock H-pipe or the purchase of a mid-pipe that matches the headers.
