H pipe not fitting
 

Well I've had nothing but trouble with my H pipe install. First I could not get one nut off the passenger side header. It took me 3 days and 3 friends a try to get it and no luck. Finally took it to a exhaust shop and they got it! Anyways thought I was cooking with butta but now the thing will not fit. It is a Mac off road H-pipe. Everything went up smooth until we got to the mid section which seems like it is 3 inches to long? I cant connect it to my cat back system (which is stock except mufflers). I looked at the stock pipe and where it comes to the "H" right after that it is shorter. Has anyone else had this problem? Does Mac not send instructions either? Mine didnt come with any. Any advice would be great!

I don't know that you'll get a full 3 inches but there should be a fair amount of play in the catback so that you can adjust it to fit the midpipe. I know on my '04 at least the only thing holding the catback in place are a few hangers and rubber pieces that are quite flexible. I may be wrong depending on the year of your car but you should be able to sway the entire catback towards the back of the car and then connect it to the midpipe. Also, assuming you're measuring the exact overlap of the midpipe and catback as 3 inches, once you slide the catback far enough back to just slip it over the midpipe then they should slide togeter at least an inch or so anyway so hopefully it won't push the catback all that far back. Hope that helps a bit, I had a hell of a time with my midpipe installS as well, keep at it.

Try it again, it will fit just fine.

The problem is that the bend that goes over the axle is now to far back and hits the top of the undercarriage. As I try to attach the rear hanger it will not come up b/c like I said it hits the undercarriage. Is the section pass the H-pipe suppose to be longer than stock? Or is it possiable that it is the wrong pipe?

Did you order the wrong pipe? Go look are your recipt.

No I checked that already. I checked the item # and it is right as well. I am going to get back under the car and try to work on it. I might take it out and try to reinstall it to see if I missed something.

I dont know man that seems wierd because mine went up in like 20 minutes....

What mufflers did you put it in? It sounds like what ever was put it in extended the length of the catback and you may have to do something about that but do not alter the midpipe or you will have a lot of fun if you decide to get an actual catback system.

Oh and make sure you put in a header gasket from Ford because the one from MAC burnt out in like a month and i had to get back under there.....PITA.

Yeah, use stock Ford gaskets, Mac sucks. All I can say is if you ordered the right one then you probably got the right one. Maybe you could take a picture of it so we can check it? There should be pipes coming out of the mufflers, try pushing those towards the rear of the car more, into the mufflers.

yeah I thought maybe that the muffler that was put in may have been modified? When I got the car 2 yrs ago it already had them in. But even so if it bolts right up to the stock H-pipe then it should fit this new one right? I mean they shouldn't have to added extra length to marry up to the stock system? The only thing I can think to do is have the pipe coming out the Muffler going toward the H-pipe cut down and reweld the connecting claps. My only problem is that I shouldn't have to do that b/c it is suppose to be a "bolt on". Today I hope that the shop I got it from is open and can get them to give me so answers.
