Rear End

I have an 04 Gt I had 4:10 Gears installed and shortly after a horrible grind sent the car back to the shop they fix the problem now just over a year later I have a loud humming / whine sound there is no visible sign of fluid leak is there anything else it could be or should being just over a year should the gears be going

Gears were installed wrong, might want to consider bringing the car to another shop. You might also have to buy new gears if these are messed up. Either way, Id have a different shop install new bushings etc., http://www.americanmuscle.com/rearendrebuild.html and reinstall the gears and make sure backlash, ect., is set up correctly.

Where are you located?

if you do a lot of burnouts (particularly donuts) then you may have a little play in the clutch pack from heavy wear which will allow the gears to move out of spec and howl. You may have also compressed the crush sleeve from some kind of shock loading and your gears are out of spec due to that. Could also be a bearing going out.

I'd take it back and tell em that your gears are howling and you think their setup may have something to do with it. Ask them to figure out if it's their work of if you blew an axle bearing or something like that. In any event, try not to drive it too much till you have it fixed. You don't want to shoot the whole works out the inspection cover.

Steen has a good rep around here. I bet they'll take good care of you. Let us know how it comes out.

Damn, Steen has a good rep all the way out in Cali? They have a good rep here on the east coast, like r3dn3ck said, they should get it taken care of.

Oh, yes, Steen is a good shop. Thats where Randy gets all his stuff done along with Jim Travers, that right there says enough.
