Brembo Rotors = Rust!

Ive had my cobra brakes on for about 2 months and already there is a lot of rust. It looks like someone puked pumpkin Pie all over my rotors. My factory rotors didnt even rust this bad! What can I do to fix that? someone is going to tell me to buy different rotors so which should I get? :help:

Idk what to do to fix it, but if you ever clean your wheel's, don't use over the counter acidic wheel cleaner. Acidic wheel cleaner can/will get on the rotors and cause the little particles to start rusting/form rust, etc. Use a non acidic wheel cleaner, wheel gels are great.

LOL It's around the inside of the rotor's that don't get touched by the break pad's that look like crap.In some of my pic's you can see them.

You need to have some rotors that are zinc plated. I think that is what it is anyway. I have baer decelarotors, and they turn a rust color after a wash (in the spot where the brake pad grabs). Drive ten feet, then brake and that fixes it like everyone says, but mine don't rust inward towards the center of the wheel. Mine are nice and silver the like the day I bought them everywhere that the brake pad does NOT come in contact with. That is how it should be. Guess you could take the rotors off and spray them with some rustoleum. hehe :kekekegay:

The only way to stop the rust on the parts that dont get contact from the pads is either to buy zinc coated as said or paint them.

The part that rusts is where the pad doesnt touch. Paint over it with some paint. Im planning on doing this to my stock rotors eventually.

which ones are zinc platted?

r3dn3ck 12-14-2006 03:34 PM

powerslot are zinc washed. they don't rust on non-pad contacting areas. there's always baer eradispeed 2 piece. They don't rust either.
