performance question?

My question is for my 4.6 98 gt engine and transmission. what is the peak power that my engine and transmission can handle?

400rwhp/rwtq ish..some can handle more, some can handle less..but 400 seems to be the magic number

I'd be a little more conservative only because he's in an NPI car. He's on a 98 which means non-PI heads and less overall potential at any boost level. Not to mention the t45's aren't as tough as the 3650 and his car is likely to have higher mileage than we'd think of on 99+ cars and high miles + big power = sudden need for a rebuild.

I'd say, you should (assuming a power adder is in your future) keep the boost below 10lbs intercooled or 8lbs non-cooled. That's good for 320ish hp and a bit more tq.

There are many many other weak points that you'll want to deal with on your way to blower-level power. Not the least of which is the clutch, rear end and fuel system.

However, yes... 400 is the recommended stopping point for the bottom end of any of the modular 4.6s.
