exhaust install

ok have a question for you guys, what is a good install price for a magnaflow tru-x with cats and slp lm1 catback? been told here in my area it will take 3 hours of labor at $75 an hour to install cause the x-pipe is in so many pieces and not one piece. so does anybody know what i am suppose to expect i mean he has me quoted at almost $1300 before taxes for everything.

DO NOT PAY FOR THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is a F'n RIP OFF. It is not that hard to install everything. It will take you about 5 hours in you garage to install everything. I'm 17 and I did it with a few buddies in my garage. I'm sure you are capable of doing it. $1,300 is a complete rip off. You should go back to the guy and bitch slap him for giving you a quote that outrageous.

Most people are quoted at about $50-$75 for the X pipe install and about $100 for the catback. It doesnt matter that the X pipe is in multiple pieces. It is actually easier to install them when they are not all one piece. At most you'd spend $250. Its not worth even paying that IMO. Just do it yourself and you will save money and also learn more about your car.

do you still have to purchase the exhaust? 75 an hour for both pieces isnt bad for an install but im still biased to do my own work

no the price is exhaust plus labor before taxes

I say do it yourself. Like stated before, its quite easy. Took me about 2 hrs by myslef. With 2 ppl its a lot better. Just make sure you use some penetrating fluid...especially on the passenger exhaust manifold. Thats always a pain.

well i just ordered my slp lm1 catback and magnaflow tru-x, $980 shipped to my door and going to install it myself versus $1476 to have a so called mustang shop order it and install it.

it's such an easy install it's plum silly not to do it yourself. I do em in about 2 hours. You'll have to cut the stock cat back after the mufflers to get it out without dropping the rear end. The new one should be a simple bolt on and multi-piece so no welding.

the mustang shop has to make a buck too... I wouldn't be too hard on them. They're getting a premium on the kit and padding the labor a bit but it's not a bad deal bought and installed.
