Advice please

Have an 2004 Gt Auto trans, tonight the trans cooler line came off needless to say I lost the fluid at the first sign something was wrong I stopped the car and had it towed home, I know possibly there may be internal damage, the question is if I reconnect the line and add the fluid will it buid the required pressue on its own to see if maybe I can salvage the tranny or not.

Yeah, hook it back up and fill it up. Make sure you refill it the right way. Then see how it works. You might be alright.

Thanks 03Gt for the input, Looks like I dodged a bullet was a little nervous after adding the first few Qts and did not seem right but feels good now.

I'm in Newport News are you close ?

Not really, 2-3 hours north.

I had somewhat of an incident awhile back. My input line had a leak over a week or so, never knew it until my "O/D Off" light would come on and blink rapidly. Supposedly this was a code for the tranny. So I simply filler her back up with Mercron V and haven't had any problems since. Of course I put on a better tightener on the input hose and tightened that sucker back up.

reconnect your hose as a meantime fix-er-upper.. but my suggestion get your coolant flusshed.. reason for that is because your hose slipped right out and reconnected the lines you have some sort of air pressure build up in ther.. and you dont want air in their.. Yeah, refilling it will fix the problem (in the short run) but you'll feel it about 30k-40k miles down the line ($$$ to fix).. plus if it came off you then definitely got restrictions in their.. possibly dirt and rocks while you were driving.. my suggestion... flush it, that way you get everything outa there..:moreboost:
