4:30's

sry to ask a gear question, being that so many ppl ask and there r so many opinions, but ive been seeing where 4:30's r recommended for 4vs, why so. i myself always seen 4:10s as high as to go if the car to be driven often, but wat about the 4v makes the 30's recommended and how much difference is there?

TClark22 10-14-2006 07:11 PM

lol...4.30 isnt recomended for daily driving...unless u like using up alot of gas

but that would be one quick accelerating 4v

DarkSith 10-14-2006 07:32 PM

I believe they recomend them for the six speed 4v because of gear ratios in the tranny, and the high redline in the cobra, but don't quote me on this.

swervo 10-14-2006 07:45 PM

Dont fear the gear! I would have gotten 4.30s if I wasnt planning on getting a supercharger.

PureStang 10-14-2006 09:03 PM

if you have a 6 speed ...then i would recomend the 4.56 gears...they get u just below 4.10's in a 5 speed..but if u have a 5 speed and it is a Daily driver...get 4.10s

here is a coparison chart for any mustang transmission (including '00 R, Viper, and 03 Cobra spec t-56's)

You guys rev higher and have a more useful power band. 4.30s are only a suggestion but id go with a minimum of 4.10s in a mach1.

stanger00 10-14-2006 09:51 PM

more often then not i see folks putting in 3.55's with a T-56 tranny. they are supercharged though.

theres a guy with 26" tires and a t-45 with 4.30's going through traps red lining 4th gear. his power level is close to 400 rwhp.

I'd hate to see the traction problem's I would have with 4:30's.Just seem's a little too steep for a DD.

MattJ 10-14-2006 10:26 PM

i have traction problems with 3.90s in a gt. traction problems are because of inadequete suspention parts.
lol

I can spin them through 3rd gear and not get on it that hard.:shakeno:

Once I go through these it's going to be a DR of some kind for sure.

315/30x18 BFG DR FTW!!!!!

MattJ 10-15-2006 10:03 AM

he needs to get the 18x10 set in the back so he can run 305/30/18 nitto 555rs. nittos run a little smaller so i dont see why a 315 wouldnt fit though.

Badfish 10-15-2006 11:29 AM

my dr's are bald :(

yeayea0 10-15-2006 01:12 PM

yep 4v's love them RPM's get 4.30's you will regret it if you don't...plus 4.10's require shifting into 4th right at the end of the 1/4 mile, it hurts ya believe me lol
