Yeah, i put a MAC Prochamber on last weekend. I don't know where it could be. I suspect the passenger side, but I replaced the gasket. Any ideas on how to locate it?

Why would the studs need to be replaced?

PureStang 10-12-2006 07:23 PM

because there is a block about 1/4" from teh head of the stud thus not allowing the nut to be threaded all the way to make a seal around the header and mid pipe

HMM, I dont know if that is my problem. Mac Supplies a sleeve that fits into the pipe that fills in any gap that could cause a leak. how much did it cost to have the studs replaced, and how did you isolate the leak to the driver side.

i didnt get my leak fixed yet...its still there cause i havent replaced my studs yet...as for how i know its gonna happen...it says specifically in the SLP xpipe directions that in 99-04 gt's taht we need to replace the studs w/ the supplied bolts....also...

also if ur car is warmed up and ur exhaust is hot...you can hear the leak....

Hmmm.. I dont know. Mac didnt supply any new studs and doesnt have that anywhere in their directions. I'm gonna take a look at it on Saturday and hopefully I figure it out. Its just annoying as hell listening to it.

Yea. I bought my Bassani O/R x-pipe from a friend who had it on his 04 Mach 1 for like 2 months and he didn't give me any bolts or studs with it..just the x-pipe. So I am useing what was on my stock h-pipe.

stanger00 10-13-2006 12:46 AM

i installed my used bassanni x with the old hardware that my car had. i had a leak on the passenger side. all i did was got a bigger ratchet and torqued the sh*t out of it. use them biceps if ya got em.

i just listend to that. it sounds normal to me. pop the hood start it up and if you smell exhaust gasses then you have a leak. if that doesnt work then do the soap in a spray bottle around the flanges and watch for bubbles.

You shouldn't need the stud kit since mac has the new sleeve. Back a few years ago when they didn't have the sleeve it was always a good idea to get the stud kit to prevent leaks, but you shouldn't need it now. Just go back and make sure everything is tight and if that doesn't help then I guess try the stud kit.
