ABS and Traction control light on

Can anyone help me? My abs and traction control light came on and stay on, all the time(as long as the car is running). A friend of mine cleared the codes for me, but as soon as you start the car, they come back on. The only code found was a shorted brake fluid level sensor. Does this sound like something that could cause this? He could not get into the abs system to see if any codes were in it, so I am trying to find out any info I can. I called Ford, and they only list a brake fluid level switch. Same thing? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.(2001 Mustang GT all stock coupe)

Have you changed your brakes recently?

Changed them about 3 months ago, but lights were on before that.

there is a sensor. ask randy here in parts and he could get you the sensor for a good price.

I just had the same issue a few months ago. It is one of your wheel speed sensors. When 1 sensor goes out, the computer can't compare the front wheel speed with the rear wheel speed, and that takes out your traction control as well as your ABS. Easy cheap fix.

I don't believe a tuner will tell you which speed sensor is out, but will throw a code. The dealership can pinpoint which sensor is out real quick.

Check also to see if there is a lot of debri on the sensor. That sometimes could block the signal since it is a magnetic sensor.
