Id probably go with the Eaton or Detroit over the Auburn.

If you had to pick between those what would you choose and why?

I really think youll be fine with either of those. I know with the Eaton you can upgrade the springs and make it hold more power. Also the guys at MPH like Eaton.

I've not come across any issues with the guys I know that run auburns. I'd be perfectly happy with it if I were in your shoes.

What about the clutch? Have you upgraded or are you using the stocker? I'd put a hotter clutch if you're putting in a hotter motor.

Dallas Mustang said that every auborn diff they have installed on a 99-04 have broke. They would last up to 2 weeks.

What are some good clutches? I dont know much about them.

centerforce, RAM, McCloud, Apex Motorsports (best I've used), exedy... many others. The Apex clutch is a pretty expensive unit but it's dual friction kevlar and has held really well on 650hp daily drivers. I don't know if they even offer it anymore.

Personally Id go with a FRPP differential and either Mosers or FRPP 31 spline axles. The MPH guys like the Eaton for a while, but even those are breaking a lot now.

Im running the regular truck diff. No special clutches or anything. Then again, my auto doesnt shock the rear as hard as a 5 speed does.

Dallas Mustang recommended the Truck Dif. and to upgrade the clutches.

03gtmustang 09-30-2006 05:17 PM

I agree.

BTW, Im moving this to Gen Tech since its not engine related anymore.

madmatt 09-30-2006 09:32 PM

Yea, if you do a normal rear, add some extra clutches. Cheap and works great.

stage2roush2002 10-01-2006 01:39 PM

Where can I buy Apex clutchs?
