300+WHP, 2V, n/a 4.6l PI, Possible
 
Just curious. I always got the impression that breaking 300rwhp is damn near impossible on a NA 4.6l 2v with the PI heads.

The reason i ask is i was messing around on the myspace forums (those people are the biggest f'in idiots in the planet) and there is some guy claiming that you can definatly hit well over 300whp on a 4.6l 2v PI, without forced induction or nitrous.

Is that possible? Whats the highest non-added 4.6l 2v dyno slip you have seen?

On a PI engine with stock heads, youll need headers, cams, and pretty much all the boltons and 300 is right there.

I think it's very possible.

Must have a manual...
Stage 2 cams or at least equivalent..
ported heads or new heads (MPH 2.5)
all bolt ons
Should do it, if not, add an intake manny

I dont think it could. Simple bolt on just dont add enough power.

But the best you could is all the normal bolts on plus Stage 3 cams and a Bad Ass tune.

full bolt on's and cams will put most PI motors over 300rwhp (manual cars).

sometimes I wonder if an electric water pump is worth 4rwhp lol..

i've seen other cars with full bolt ons and stage 2 cams hit right around 290rwhp. i think in most cases full bolt ons and stage 2s will get you very close to 300rwhp.. not much over though, that's with a good tune. most of the time I see people with the same numbers as me, a few better. I've noticed that in people who have really high numbers with cams and maybe missing LT's, for some reason they never fully post their dynosheets.. like they leave off teh SAE correction and stuff like that. always makes me wonder lol.

if i got a aftermarket intake manifold i'd surely hit over 300rwhp

btw.. that 4rwhp im missing means nothing ot me.. i might as well have 300rwhp..

the weather plays a good role in the power you make aswel. If the weather was nice and cool when you did yours you might even be over 300rwhp :)

true, generally though if your using SAE correction it should take away or add power depending on the weather conditions.. but I've always questioned exactly how accurate that is. When I dynoed the weather was about perfect.. it hardly or added or took away any power from me.

300+ is possible for the 4.6. my 5.4 is like a 4.6 but i just make alot more TQ. with bolt ons and stage 2 heads, i have 289HP to the wheels. Then look at csledd, she has bolt ons and stage 2 cams, and she has 296HP. Now image is she had my heads or if i had her cams. We would probably be seeing around 330 HP to the wheels.

Heck if i could have made those long tube headers work, i would be 300-305Hp at the wheels, but 5.4's you need custom headers but FRPP shorties do work and that's what i have now.

400 to the wheels, no, not N/A.

Csled was that on a mustang dyno or a dynojet? or other?
(Apparenty mustang dyno's are notoriousely more correct, and show a few less ponies than a dynojet would say you have, even after SAE.)

It was a dynojet.. which is why everytime I dyno I leave the spare in the trunk, have a full tank of gas, and try to keep as much stuff in the back as possible.

a buddy of mine makes 317rwhp and 308tq with P&P heads, cams, p51 intake, and a couple minor bolt ons. 400bhp would require some really wild cams and super high rpm but it's "possible" just not reasonable. Sounds to me like someone was using a engine calculator to see what kind of HP is possible with the stock heads at the level they flow. Which is a theoretical 405bhp. That assumes a LOT of things going perfectly and the cams matching the top speed of the motor precisely. 400rwhp is close to 500bhp and totally not possible with PI heads without forced inductino or lots of nitrous. They just can't flow that much. About 460bhp is where they peak in theoretical limit and that's after being significantly ported. Heads would have to flow over 300cfm to even come close to 400rwhp.

And myspace... jeebus what a tard haven. That's the unfashionable western end of the lower IQ section of the galaxy.. Too many really profoundly stupid people spend too much time on there bragging (lying) about things they know little about for anyone to really take any of it seriously. I'd discount EVERYTHING that anyone there says as pure rubbish/fiction. When one says somethign totally true, I'll be impressed.

A local guy i know made 330 rwhp with comp 272's? i think and patriot stage 2 head and of course full bolt on's... I'll be dropping my car of at a local performance shop here this winter for custom grind stage 3's.... They idle almost exactly like the vt stage 2's but make more power and tq... the thing i love the most is how it held 300lb tq from 3500 to 5500.. i'm hoping for a little over 300 rwhp i made 267hp and 301 tq with just bolt ons so i'm crossing my fingers...

The highest 2V NA dyno slip i have seen was 360rwhp from Ken B on MD...
The guys from VT said they have had them at 400rwhp with MPH race heads/cams and a Big Bore short block. I have never seen proof but i believe them. Now a stock displacement 4.6 with untouched heads....300-310 will be your max or thats the max i have seen over the years.

I think its possible, but you would send so much $$$ on other parts that simply getting a PA is a much better choice. Well unless you run in a strickly N/A drag racing class.
