changing oil

Hey guys i just bought some Mobile 1 synthetic oil for my GT does anyone run this stuff and like it? also is it 5 or 6 quarts for the car? thanks brian

I run that or royal purple and won't run anything else. For 99 and up, i always thought 5 quarts but some will say 6. i know i put 5 quarts in mine.

i just changed my oil and everytime i change it i buy 5 quartes of oil and then the low oil light comes on so i end up buying another quarte of oil and putting half of it in and everything is good to go then...im thinking its do to the oil filter taking up some oil i dunno

thats weird, i mean as long as your oil is in the marks on your dipstick, the oil is good to go and the light shouldn't come on. i've seen peoples car pull the stick out and it's on the bottom barely at the crossmarks and no oil light.
The filter does take some but not much. and i always pour alittle oil in the filter before putting it on.

5 QTS. some do take 6 though...its strange.

5 qts here! Some manuals say to use 6 some say 5!

my owners manual says 6 with a filter change

I use 5 in mine. No problems. Just check your owners manual to see what it says.

i swear the actual amount of oil is like a huge secret or something, and our dipsticks aren't even supposedly that accurate. I've heard 5, 5.5, and 6. I also seen a screenshot of the Ford service computer that says 5.25 lol.

ya one time i went and asked the ppl at advanced what ther computer says and the guy looked it up and it said somthing like 4.96 quarts..but i have never had it register on the dipstick until 5.5 with a filter change

6 Quarts to get to the full mark on the stick on the 4.6L

well seeing that i use to work at an oil lube shop, it can range anywhere from 5.25 to 5.5 depending on your oil filter. penzoil filter is 5.25, as well as motorcraft. as far as other filters i do not know but this little bit of knowledge i do have, and i run mobile 5w20 synthetic and nothing else, and still change at every 3k i do not care what any manufacture says.

My car takes 6.75 QTS of oil. I use mobil 1 synthetic and motorcraft filters.

I imagine 5.25 would be more than efficient for a GT.

That sounds about right. The last time that I changed my oil it took almost 7 quarts.
