My A/C actin up
 

Bout a day ago my a/c started to pumped out some warm air. It would go back and fourth gettin warm and gettin cool. I hope its not completely goin out on me. What do you guys think?:help:

I think it's ur a/c idler, ithink that's what they call. Do u still have warranty on it. if so takr to hutch at Bankston.

could be the system is low on pressure and is setting off the low pressure switch. First things first. Have the car running with the A/C on and see if the a/c compressor clutch will stop and then atart going. This will tell us a few things about whats going on.

That is what mine was doing. Ended up being the A/C pressure switch. $24 part, and about 12 seconds to replace it!

Mine quit workin @ about 59k??? Compressor wont come on? Took it too two different places and none gives me a straight answer! One said it does have R134 so its not low? iam thinkin bout takin it to the dealer so i kno iam gettin raped but hopefully get a straight answer?

If it has pressure and the clutch wont turn on first thing i would do is jump the low pressure saftey switch with a peice of wire or paperclip (just a simple make both sides connect deal and see if it turns the cltuch on and makes the a/c get cold. This is a common problem on fords blowing the low saftey sswitch out. I think the way its designed in f150's and mustangs the compressor drips condensation on it and thus shirts it out over time.

A hanyes manual or chiltons manual can tell you right were the switch is.

Again, that's exactly how I found out what my problem was. Save your money by taking it to a dealership. Just use a piece of wire and jump the switch. If the A/C compressor them comes on, that's your problem.

It's the freaking easiest thing I have ever done to a car. The switch simply unscrews (3/8" wrench I think), and screw the new one on. Literally only seconds to do.

Question? When your A/C is on, look at the pulley on the A/C compressor, is it barely spinning? RPM's jumping up and down 1-200rpm? If so, that is exactly your problem.

I'll see if I can find a picture of where the switch is.

Well this is what mine does; When i switch too a/c the rpms starts goin up and down But! the a/c compressor is not coming on at all? should i try and jump it still the way you guys are explaining? thanx again for the help fellas!

Yes, that is exactly the problem I had. If you look at the pulley on your A/C compressor you will see the middle part (don't know the technical term) barely turning. That switch will fix the problem, it puts pressure on the pulley to make the compressor turn!

And, jumping the switch isn't really a permanant fix. With it jumped you won't be able to turn your a/c off. It's just a "make sure that is the problem" thing. As soon as you jump it you will hear the compressor click on = problem solved.

Call Advance, or any parts store, they had to order mine. Not a common part, but Advance had it there the next day. It was $23. I don't know how much randy can get them for?

Success, it was my a/c pressure switch. I can now chill while I ride!

not to jump in and start over but when you are talking about jumping the switch you mean simply touch the wiring harness to the place where the sensor screws off from with a paper clip or something; correct? you just want to complete the circuit without the sensor, right?
