VT is the company that makes the cams...as is Comp Cams...its the company

you can get different grind cames for different applications....there are turbo cams, supercharger cams, and N/A cams...all come w/ different stages...most recomend the stage 2's from VT and Comp Cams 262 cams for DD cars

there is also the option of getting custom grind cam from ModularPowerHouse.com from Tim Barth (the owner)

the different stages/number are the different size cams they offer...like from stage 1 to stage 2 for VT cams and the 262 to 270+ for comp cams...

if u go w/ the stage 2 or 262 (or beyond) you WILL need to get a tune and different gear (3.55+ usually) and/or stall (if u have an auto)...the reason for the gears is because u lose your low end power w/ bigger cams

if u have anymore questions..just post..

if you are going to at a supercharger you dont want the stage 2 cams(boost killer) run somthing a little smaller. im running the comp 262 cams in mine with a procharger. they helped out on the TQ. down low.

and what should i buy along with the camshaft?

Get VT stage 2 blower cams directly from VT.

like blownstang has just shown us, the stage has little to do with the actual grind and more to do with how aggressive the grind actually is.

A blower cam has less valve overlap so you don't bleed boost into the exhaust while both valves are open. Hot NA cams usually will have (like the VT's) more overlap to aid in scavenging. Both will have variations in lift and duration as appropriate to the use.

A stage 2 blower cam (what an arbitrary value... stage X hahahahaha) will be a little hotter than a stage 1 blower cam and totally different than a stage 2 NA cam.

I'd highly recommend the following link to anyone that doesn't know much about cams. It'll tell you most of what you really need to know to be conversant:
