car wont start

when i did my midpipe swap i accidently hit the starter with a wrench, causing it to spark. ever since my car has been taking longer and longer to start. its finally at the point where it wont start. i took the battery to autozone to make sure the battery was fine. it was at 12.5 volts. that means my alternator is fine because if the battery level wasnt low, then my alternator would be working properly. when i had the car off and listen to music for a min only and try to start the car it would take awhile. i think thats cause with the battery level a little bit lower, the bad starter wouldnt be able to start the car as quick. i think it needed all the juice as possible considering my battery is only like 675 watts of cranking power at 32 degrees F. so im almost positive it is my starter.

i was just wondering if the problem could be in the wiring to the starter? im going to remove the starter and have autozone check to see if its still good. Also, if i need to purchase a new starter, they sell them for 144 for maximum quality and will give you 10 for the bad starter, or 122 for premium quality and will give you 35 for the bad starter. the guy said there isnt much of a difference. as we all know, everyone who works at autozone is a complete idiot, so i wanted to ask you guys if there was a difference?

i probably shoulda put this in the general tech forum. oops

Probably more so of a difference in the name and warranty supplied with it.

Rejekt 07-28-2006 05:35 PM

Hey, I just checked and the price difference is

Duralast with some remanufactured components for $144 with limited lifetime warranty with a core of $35.00

Gold Duralast which is 100% new with limited lifetime warrant for $148 with a core of $10.00

Valucraft which is remanufactured with a 1 year warranty for $119 with a $35.00 core

So yeah, basically paying for the warranty and whether it's an all new unit or mostly remanufactured.

well the top one is 122 at my autozone with 35 for core. the all new one is 144 with 10 for core. so since they both have limited lifetime warranties id be an idiot to spend money for the all new one.

the price diff would be $87 or $134. thats a $47 difference. i think im gunna go for the cheaper one

i was gunna tell you that they make fiberglass 2000 cobra r hoods too. not just carbon fiber. i saw one place make it half n half. fiberglass cost like 450. half n half was 600. full was like 8-900 or something stupid. cant remember what site tho.

If you get the Roush front fascia, install it yourself. Just make sure you have a rivet gun and preassemble the fascia. The fit is perfect. Guess you're meaning Lance for the hood.
