It's Brake Time

So the dilemma is this:

I will need pads and rotors in a few weeks but I am gonna do them asap. so...
Is a brake package upgrade really necessary for a DD car? Basically I am not sure if I should upgrade now while Im gonna have the stuff apart anyway...or just go with stock pads and rotors...or maybe an upgraded set of pads and rotors. This is just for the front BTW.

Also, anyone know the difference in the upgrade packages at MT? Between these->http://www.mustangtuning.com/ford-ra...onversion.html

and these------>http://www.mustangtuning.com/01bulli...onversion.html

I know there is the small price difference and color...other than that anything else different?

But in the end I want to upgrade...why not? better brakes are a good safety item to have as well. I just dont want to spend 400 + bucks and not see a large difference in braking over the already good PBR stock front setup on there now.

I switched my entire stock setup to 10th ann with SS lines and its a DRASTIC improvement. Probably the best money ive spent. The stopping power is incredible and I just went with the entire stock pad, stock rotor setup. Deffiently do a cobra brake it for 400 instead of pads and rotors for close to the same.

yeah...im leaning that way...so do you know if there is a difference between the cobra brakes...red w/cobra on them, red with the pony and the black ones with cobra on them?

Id imagine the stopping power is all the same. The 10th ann setup (red and say cobra) has the biggest calipers. The red ones with the running pony is the bullitt calipers, and the black calipers that say cobra is the Mach 1 setup and 04 cobra setup. They are all 2 piston calipers with 13" rotors.

thanks for the info!! :beerchug:

Kinda weird that 03 Cobra (10th ann. right?) calipers would be bigger than 04 Cobra calipers.

just bigger pistons (not much bigger) to set them apart from any other year. That'll give the concours judges more to pick over in 20 years. Until then, they're pretty well the same, stopping power is the same.

Cobra brakes were the best money I ever spent. I have a Baer Track Kit but it's the same thing as the standard cobra kit for all intents and purposes. OEM type pads are fine. Stock rotors are nice, I prefer Baer eradispeed 1 piece cuz the cheeks are way way way thicker than OEM rotors so they have more heat carrying capacity for those hard stops from triple digits.

+1 on the Cobra or Mach 1 brakes, i have Mach 1 calipers russel front and rear lines, slotted and cross drilled rotors, the stopping power is definitely better and worth the money.
