Don't forget your one bottle of Motorcraft XL-3 Gear Additive. I would put it in even if you get gear oil that doesn't require it. Put that in first.

More commonly known as friction modifier. You may come across someone who may not know in the parts department. lol

Or you can just get Royal Purple and it already has it in it.

I would still use the XL-3 with it.

so does the eaton posi also hold 3 qts of royal purple? or should i get 4?

03gtmustang 08-10-2006 09:59 PM

I got 4 because Im running a different diff cover and I dont want to be short on oil. Also, if you put in too much friction modifier then the clutches can start slipping. The amount thats in the Royal Purple is enough. I wont be adding any more.

I just filled mine with this..http://www.mobiloil.com/USA-English/...75W-140LS.aspx without any additional friction modifier with no troubles.

I had Redline in it and it broke down after about 8K miles and the clutches started chattering. I wouldnt recommend it to anyone. Its loaded with sulfer and phosphorus additives..thats what I get for trying some off brand.

uhhh... redline != off-brand. Redline is one of the best brands out there. Do you flog your ride that hard? I mean jeebus. I flog my car pretty hard and I use Redline light shockproof for street and heavy shock proof for racing, never had anything but the best results.

Ive heard nothing but good things about redline too.

The shockproof is what I had.

I hear a lot of things...its all in how you market it.
