Spoiler Removal

But what would be involved, cosmetically is what I really mean, in removing the spoiler/fin/trunk decoration, off my 2005 GT?

I think its better suited for this section of the forum. Anyways, I think that if the spoiler is anything like the 94-04's...all you have to do is remove the screws holding it in place and find some plugs to cover up the holes that it leaves behind. If you wanted to remove it permanently you could have the holes filled and painted at a body shop..:)

Are there "plugs" actually made for this particular use, that you know of? Do you happen to know if the holes are small enough, that a little "bondo" and touch-up paint would be horrible looking?

When I removed my spoiler, I got some black plastic rivets from Austozone. The holes in my trunk where actually 2 different sizes, 5/16" and 1/4" diameters. I've thought about filling the holes with bondo and sanding it smooth, but i would have the deck lid repainted by a professional, I don't think touch-up paint on a MG stang would look good, I imagine it depends on the color of your car. I'm going to stick with the plastic rivets for a while, I want the option of putting the wing back on in the future if I change my mind.

Not a bad idea with the plastic rivets. Looks like I'll be hitting up Autozone tomorrow. Thanks machnjo. :beerchug:

I just plugged mine with those plastic screws as well.

i tried it but with dumps it looks weird to not have the wing back there.
