Tri-Ax Shifter
 

I just installed my new Tri-Ax shifter, and noticed that they do make a little more noise due to the fact that the one boot doesn't come with it, why the hell don't they include that with their shifters? Seems to me everyone must notice it, Why haven't they fixed it yet? I know I could take the whole darn thing apart again, and Jerry rig the old boot, but for now I'll just turn up the tunes, that seems to work also. Does anyone else have a fix besides the one I came up with?

Yeah I just got mine in the mail today, and noticed that it is a little loud and havent got it in yet but, i hope its not that noticiable, but with a loud exhaust and some music i dont think it will matter, im thinkin maybe you could put a rubber boot aroud the bolts or at the bottom of the shifter so when it hits the bolts it doesnt make noise

Be a man....real shifters don't have rubber boots.:poke:

did you use a silicon gasket maker when youput it in? manny people make a custom gasket set you can buy for the tri-ax to quite it down. Hoever, i've had mine for over a year, and all i used was some silicon arround the edges

Stock shifter ftw. I missed more shifts with my TriAx than my stock :)

My steeda tri-ax is just as quiet as my stock shifter was. Then again, I purchased the gasket set with mine.

Didn't know about the gasket set, but yes I did use form a gasket on the base. The instructions did say I would notice the sound of the gearbox a little bit because it was missing one of the items that's on the stock unit, but like I said I'm not letting it bother me. Not going to listen to any symphony's in there anyway. The pipes will more then drown it out, I was just wondering if anyone else had heard the same sounds I did, that being the gears in the tranny. Miss a gear, how??? The thing is so smooth, I tried to miss 3rd and couldn't, but than again I've been shifting for 35 years. (If you're talken about the gasket kit that comes with every shifter, then it's in. It's the piece of rubber that goes between the shift stub, and the shifter lever, right?)

This is the gasket I used with my tri-ax and it seems to work pretty good. By the way, I've missed a couple of gears....went from 4th to 2nd one time....not exactly sure how I did that but thank god I caught it before it caught and sent me sideways.....not good!

Wish I would have seen that when I placed the order. I bought it from the same place. All I got was the little rubber one for the shifter handle. Oh well....

It's not too late.....it only takes a little bit of time to pull the shifter off and put the gasket on....it will recude vibration also

The stock shifter is designed to be slushy partly to help with noise. I noticed some noise with my TriAx but it is not distracting at all, and with my exhaust, it's hard to hear it anyway. I didn't use a gasket, just silicone. The TriAx is more solid, no rubber bushings etc, therefore transfers noise. Some people, as has been talked about, use a rubber gasket between the mounting plate and shift tower with great success.

Missing a gear is pretty tough to do with this shifter, picking the wrong gear seems to be more of an issue.

All is good now, the noise went away by it's self, or maybe I just grew a new set. Right MT#1customer! I bet I left as much on their checkout counter as you have.

hmmm, i got the MGW and it came with RTV sealant and it uses the stock rubber boot....maybe you can re-use yours? just a thought.

Thats the same one ive got. I ordered mine about a year ago and finally bought a triax used about 3 weeks ago.
