Clutch Installation?

How difficult is installing a new clutch in a 99 GT? Is it something that can be done yourself? How much would a shop charge to do it?

It shouldn't be too bad, drop the trans, uynhoock what needs to be unhooked, take old cluth out put new one in.....doesnt seems to hard, shop would probably charge you a ton

I like Coke

Is that including a OEM clutch?

getting the tranny out and back in is a major PITA from planet mutherfvkker. I've done it like 5 times and it's always a bitch and a half getting the tranny back in, and that's using a tranny jack and a lift. Have a couple friends to help you at minimum.

I'd pay the 200 bucks in shop time. They'll probably resurface your flywheel for you too.

no i went spec stage 1 and thats not including buyin that.....thats just install..resurfacing flywheel plus i had 2 pay for them 2 take off manifold cause the bolt on it snapped cause last time i put my h pipe on i got angry and just forced it on and it didnt go on nicely lol..... i think it was goin 2 be around $400 b4 the manifold prob

$400 was the going rate around here

I just called a few shops and I got ranges from $200-250 for install and resurfacing.

those are excellent prices for the install. I had mine put in for about $250 also..

250 isn't bad considering all that you have to drop to do it,underneath and including interior parts. It can be a pain in the A$$ putting it back onto the motor and you can't force it on. i've always done it myself but if you don't have the lift, tools, friends, and time, then i would let someone else do it.

Turns out buying from a dealer has advantages. My clutch was covered under warranty. :)
