3.73s + snow
 

i jsut want to know about the expierences the people who own 3.73 gears have had in the snow. my mustang is my daily driver and i have to commute to school abotu 15min away so didnt want to get gears because of the snow. would anyone reccommend if i should get or not get them because of the snow? also i have a 2year base care warranty from ford does anyone know if gears void the warranty? thanks.

Where do you live? I drove around in the snow with my 4.10's and Nitto DR's.

in general, mustangs are crap in the snow and on ice. proper all season or studded tires and judicious use of the go pedal are mandatory in the powder no matter what. 3.73's will make it easier to break traction but I can't see that they're a deal killer. Gears will void the warranty on your rear end but keep in mind dealers like to void entire warranties for any little thing, so don't tell them about it if you can help it.

I've had my 3.73's for over 3 years now. I drive my car 7 days a week all year long. I've driven through everything snow,sleet, frozen highways with drag radials and i can't complain...

I almost wet myself driving over really light ice on 3.27's... just didn't have any traction at all. Going slow and being smart about it helped but still didn't let my azz unpucker for a few hours afterward.

Gears won't affect it at all, you just have to know how to drive on snow/ice. I did it in my V6 with stock tires and with 275's. Now I don't drive my Mach in the winter cuz of the salt, but I test drove another Mach in the snow and it was actually better, even though it had 3.55's and more power, reason being traction control and limited slip.

To drive on snow just keep it in a high gear. I would start out in 2nd usually, then shift into 3rd right away, and into 4th shortly after that. Just keep the RPM's below 1000 when accelerating and it won't spin out. If it was bad there were times I was shifting into 5th at like 25mph. Just keep it low where there's no power. And as far as gears go, just keep it in one gear higher. For example if you used to start out in 1st, start out in 2nd with the gears.

I have another car to drive when it rains,ice, or snow's. But i have driven in it with 3.73's and 4.10's. it's all about having a light foot and paitence on getting to your destination....i've been there to R3DN3CK, but i almost shat in my pants....

yea this is gona suck with the snow but luckily i scheduled all my classes to where the earliest one starts at 12:30pm

I drove my car in the snow with 4.10s last year.. it was fun!! if you go slow it's very doable

i drove with 4.10s on solid ice last year....this is what happened:
