Grill Delete install question
I can not seem to get the bottom piece of the grill delete on...there is not enough room to screw on the four screws. Should i remove the headlights so i can make more space or is there anything else i can do?

that's a beyotch isn't it. Some guys just tug up on the bumper cover in that area, others pull the cover off completely and do it wtih it off the car. I said screw it (pardon the pun) and screwed them down from the top. They hold in the teeth (a strip of sheetmetal shaped like a row of shark teeth that's powdercoated white... used for intimidation factor when racing and keeps hands out of my grill opening). There's another row plus to kicker fangs all along the top.

when i tried to screw them in from the bottom the screw almost started comming through the top so i stopped before it could get tight enough. Are you not supposed to use the same screws that held douwn the bootom of the stock grill? There where no others in the box.
|
dunno... I never did it "right" I did it how I needed to to make it work with the teeth. I'd imagine it should be snug using the stock screws. If not, find some shorter ones or cut the ones you have. They're only a hacksaw away from fitting.

Thanks...i'll try a few things. I didnt think it was going to be this difficult to get those screws in.
|
You're not supposed to use the stock screws, you're just supposed to stick the little prongs on the bottom of the black piece through the stock screw holes and then use speed nuts to fasten it to the bumper. The only screws you need to use are on the top (near the headlights). And yes, it's a bit easier to reach if you remove both headlights.

Go here, its a pretty good tutorial. It should answer any questions you have. But, I'm pretty sure you're supposed to remove the headlights.

I didnt re-use those four 7mm screws at all...the only thing that holds the bottom piece on is the plastic rivets, one on each side. The bottom of the piece has four pins that fit into where those PITA 7mm screws were...I guess there are supposed to be fascia clips in the kit, but I never got any...it just sits in those holes...I dunno 130mph and nothing came loose.

Thanks for all the tips.... i just went the half ass way and put some double sided tape under the lip, cant tell a difference. Here's the results:
|
What kind of tape did you use? I've tried twice with different kinds of tapes and I can't get anything to work.

Looks good. I order mine last night and it shipped today. :punk:

Mine came with a strip of tape. It diddnt stick worth crap and for the first month or so there was around a 1/'2 cm gap. over time though that gap just disappeared and now it is all nice and snug.

I must have gotten some different type of delete kit. My bottom piece had 2 big clips that slid under the bumper and pulled it up to the delete. No tape, screws, or gaps!!!!
