Did you use friction modifier in the rear end or an oil with it mixed in? The gears will chatter without it.

if you mean as if the tranny its self is shuttering then you need to do a few things.one check fluide level. two see if its dirty, dark, or smells burt, any of the above means it needs to be replaced. I would bet its the tranny fluide that is doing this.

Although it was kinda rare, my 01 would do the same thing. At a slow roll, with light throttle applied it would shudder a bit like it couldnt find the gear. After programming it and boosting the shift firmness a bit, it pretty much went away. Also put some fully synthetic in the tranny and that helped it as well.

thanks for all the help i'm just gonna get it seviced and see if that helps.:beerchug:

i would bet the fluide is your problem. I would also say this dont put anything but mercron v in that tranny no additives nothing just mercron v tranny fluide. Also add a tranny cooler asap. The tranny place that is gonna flush your fluide ( i assume your getting it done so they will just do a flush) make them replace the tranny filter and if you want they would install a cooler too i would bet.

Heck if you lived near me i would give ya a hand doing it. Or we could walk you through a how too if need be i have done many, and they are pretty easy to do.

is it after you had downshifted? My '01 does the same occasionally. How did you make out after the service, and did you put the tranny cooler in? What was the cost of that? Thanks! Good Luck:beerchug:

Any amount of shudder is directly related to transmission fluid. If in o/d and you give it a little throttle it should shudder also before down shifting. I went to ford just 2 days ago and had a full flush, clean, new fluid, gasket and filter (which cost quite a bit) but it shifts like new and has no shudder or hesitation.

How do you like the results of the chip?? Did it make a big difference and did you also have to do other things when you installed it? Thanks! Just got back into this.

The chip did wonders for my automagic. Firm fast shifts and higher redlines. When you buy it your tuner tunes the chip to your specifications on a computer then its a plug in and go.
