04 vs 05
 

I Have an 04 GT w/ a manual Trans. 3.73's, Borla Catback, Upr O/R Xpipe, BBk Straight Shot Cai w/85mmTb and AccuFab Plenum, Steeda Pullies, Steeda Tri Ax Shifter, and a DiabloSport Predator Tune. My Question is... Is this sufficient to outrun, or at least keep up with a bone stock 05 GT? I know the 05's are badass!

You should be more then able to out run an 05. in stock form times can run from 13.6's-15's and beyond. with your mods your a low low 13 sec car on street tires.

That's some relief. A guy I work with just got an 05, he can't keep his mouth shut about it. It's a fast car, but he thinks its a 800hp monster. I'm gonna run him tomarrow. Thanks Man.

if you cna drive, you should have no problem, you weight less, have better gearing, and should have about the same power, well a tad less.

With no more than I have..Ive beat a couple 05s at the track. Both with considerably more power than I have..but hindered mostly(I think)because of not being able to get out of the hole and not hittin the gears right. Both that I have run were 5-speeds.

hahah..if that doesnt beat a stock 05..then there is no hope for anyone ...you should win easily

Stock 05's can run mid 13's or low 13's with sticky tires. If you are running him from a rolling start I think you will walk away from him with your mod's. At a track it's hard to know since it's all in the first 60' and your reaction time.
But in theory you weigh less and you have a little gear on him.

Man, U guys rock! Finally someone who thinks I have a chance! I've never went up against a 05 before, and everybody says I'm gonna get killed. the 05 is a manual, and from what I had seen... the guy isn't the best driver. Lots of wheel spin and his shifts didn't sound very firm. I've raced and beat an automatic 04 Mach 1, and a 98 Cobra before and won, so I'm anxious to see if I can get a 05 gt under my belt. (Although the Mach and the Cobra were both stock... but a win is a win I suppose)

Unless he has already done some mod's I doubt you will have much trouble, everyone I know who has raced one has beatin them rather easily.

let's not lose sight of the fact that 05's also have 40hp more. I don't think speednovations is going to be smoking any 05's for a while, added gear or no. 40hp isn't made up for by smoke tubes and a set of 3.73's. THe added weight on the 05 may hurt them but on the street it's better traction.

Add a set of XE268AH cams and you'll be faster and lighter than the 05 in all probability.

Those things are heavy, he should have no problems with his mods against a 05. Yeah they have more power but the stock 235's and more weight are hurting it.

You will take him easy...I have a near stock 2002 Mustang GT Automatic, and I raced an 06' GT 3 times. Once was heads up from a stop, which he beat me but not by much. Having bald rear tires didn't help me much there!! The other two were from a rolling start, which i walked all over him. And all I have is K&N air intake and flowmaster catback!! They are fast cars but you will take this one!! :clap:

So did the race happen yet? I know a lot of you keep saying he's going to smoke the 05, but I'm not sure about that.

Well I finally got to race the dude in the 05, and victory was mine 3 outta 3 races. We raced about an 1/8mile each time from a stop. I never won by more than a 1/2 car length, so I can't brag that I KILLED him, by any means. My gearing won me the races. I got him off the line everytime and was able to hold him off.

Wins a win doesnt matter by an inch or a mile.....lol....had to say it.....as long as it says winner on the top of that time slip
