brake light goes on when i brake
 

almost everytime i brake the damn brake light goes on and its pissing me off....anyone know thw reason for this???

Low brake fluid...case-closed.

Open the fluid cover, I'll bet you a bottle of fluid it is low.

Don't fill your brake reservior. You'll hate yourself.

The brake light coming on is telling you your brakes are worn and it's time to check them for replacement.

When you compress the pistons back into the caliper body it'll shoot the fluid back into the reservior keeping you from having to bleed the brakes.

Now's the time to change your brake fluid and upgrade to cobra fronts if you haven't yet. Best 400 bucks you can ever spend on a performance mod. Cobra brakes are tooth chippers upside the craptastic stock GT setup.

For brake fluid, super blue racing fluid is in a bronze or silver can and costs 16 bucks. 1 can will do 2-4 full brake fluid changes. You should change your brake fluid every couple brake jobs to keep condensation out of the system.

Does the same pertain to me? I have only noticed the light come on under heavy brakeing, car pops out of a side street infront of me and i hit the brakes, the "BRAKE" light with the little E and ! comes on... is that when the Anti-locks are kicking in or is there something up? My 03' stang is new to me (almost two months now) and this stuff is still new to me, my 95 didnt even have OBDII!

Probably but if it only happens under HARD braking, your brakes are probably just about 3/4 into their life and it's normal. when it comes on while your just slowing down is a sign of low fluid level which is a direct reflection on a normally functioning braking systems wear status. Not always but it's a good strong probability.

My car has never given me any brake lights even when they were almost gone and i replaced them because i knew it was time.:confused:..is this only on certian years or what?:confused:..

no... it kinda depends on suspension setup, fluid level, which calipers you have, etc... If you have just soft enough springs or just the right rake angle you can get the fluid to slosh in the reservior and drag the sensor down to the bottom for a second. I get it when I jump on the brakes when they're just about toast.

Did they change it for the 99's? my "ABS" light has been coming on and off for about a week now..

That's a signal telling you that the ABS system doesn't think everything is ok. Take some detergent and a toothbrush to the ABS exciter wheels and clean them up. If that doesn't fix it you may have a failing ABS unit or a bad sensor. Usually it's just brake dust and road crud built up.

The exciter wheels are castellated silverish discs about 5 or 6" across at the ends of your axles behind the brake rotor (usually, IRS cars have the rears inboard).

All I wanted to say was;
