Am I really chip???

Ok, so after getting the LT's in, I asked the guy to put a chip in my car to compliment the headers. So he tells me to give another 1-1.5 hours to get that in.

So I come by and the car is on the dyno(but wasnt running, so I just assume it had run) so he pulls it around and I ask him about the octane level and he said it's tuned to a 93. HE gives me my dyno sheet that he ran, only showing one run, and there's no a/f ratio displayed. Keep in mind, that it was dyno'd(or so I assume) on 87 octane right after the 93 octane tune.

So then I said how my car was on half tank with 87. So he told me it's fine, just to fill it up with 93 on the next refill. So I drive easy down to the closest gas station and fill with 93, which would make the octane around 90. Then I drive for about a week til today and fill the whole thing with 93.

I didnt get there in time to see the dyno, so it's absolutely possible that he printed a bogus dyno sheet and just kept my car on the dyno so when I got there, he'd pull it around as if it was dyno'd and chipped.

My questions:

1)Is there a chance that my car wasn't chipped?
2)Is there a chance my car wasn't dyno'd?
3)If it really was chipped, would the 90 octane hurt just performance or also hurt my engine
4)If my engine was hurt by the octane, would I be able to tell right away, or is it a gradual problem that may arise down the road?
5) Ithe 90 octane did hurt my car, what are signs to show me it?
6) Aside from going to the shop, is there any kind of tests I can do to show if it was actually chipped or not?

What kinda chip did you purchase? Diablo? Check your passenger side kick panel, if you have a chip, it should be there..if you got a chip, with a custom tune, you should have gained a good 10+ rwhp, so your dyno numbers should be higher....

I only gained 5RWHP with my custom dyno tune, and had full exhaust.

if the motor isnt pinging form the lower octane then you are just fine dont worry there will be no harm done in any way. And i would also check the kick panel to see if there is really a chip there. also post your graph let us see it, or is that the one you posted before?

maybe peak power was 5rwhpp, but i bet you picked up alot more else where correct?

Not sure. Stock tune on 93 gas was at 235RWHP and then with a tune with 93 was 240RWHP. I wasnt getting it for power tho, I was doing it more so to get the car running real smooth and firm up my shift points. Heres my graph, I dont think the stock pull is on the graph to compare tho.

dude it was a mustang dyno. which is like 10-15% lower then what a dynojet would tell you. 265 hp with full exhaust is pretty fugging good to me on a mustang dyno. check the panel and see if the chip is there.

Alos if u ran about 90 octane on a car tuned for 93 for a short time, then it will not hurt it at all.

short time =the duration u ran 90 octane..

U dont always gain ALOT of horse power from a dyno tune. I only gained 2HP and like 15lbs TQ. I only had a intake and exhaust though also..

I dont think a Mustang dyno is that much less, I know it's less, but more like 5%

I don't know, i'm looking at your sig, 240 rwhp with full exhaust and other bolts ons is pretty low. You should be makign close to 260+ rwhp...:confused:..

he pretty much only has an exhaust set up..

With my mods Below..without the Steeda pullies that were just installed I had 246 RWHP... so his numbers are promising. if he had a throrrle body and plenum he would be right with me at 246 rwhp....

cause if those are numbers from a standard tranny then the numbers with an auto tranny with the Same mods will be a little lower...

ok sit in your passenger seat and move your right foot over to the right until it hits a panel then look down and you will see a little pin holding the panel up. i dont know how to take it off but good luck.

The panel right next to the passengers right foot. You should be able to pry it off with a good pull...:)

to open it...there is a push pin u need remove that is located toward the firewall (its hard to miss)....put ur hand under the panel and take a yank at the area around the push pin....itll be a lil tough....once u get it out...u then need to place ur hand on the edeg of the panel closest to the firewall....and pull...there is a clip that holds it in...it will feel like its gonna break..but it wont..unless u fck up some how....to install it....just reverse the removal...

i did that today w/o any instructions so i could get access under my carpet to run sub wires....

If your car is tuned for 93 then it should ping like a mother F'er with 87 octane. Otherwise, the timing really never got advanced enough.

This whole thing seems fishy to me. It is not possible to dyno tune a car w/o an a/f unless he just did not print it.

Some tuners will not put the A/F on their unless your stupid and don't ask! You got ripped off if you don't have a chip and if your getting your car dynoed why didn't you stay and watch? Anytime my car is on the Dyno I record it and watch the tuning. I never pay until I can test drive and feel the difference in car reaction. You got tuned with 87 octane then put 93 in your fine. Won't hurt a thing but then again with a modified car you should get some booster for the fuel! Until you can get some good stuff in their.

1. Check the ECU for a chip takes a dumbass 10 sec's to check it out.
2. Never let anyone tune the car without you watching and test driving after.

that only has the one graph you would need to have the non chipped numbers on there to compair it too.

Dear god.....sorry man your a dumb***.........lol..........alright check this out

1) Open the passenger door
2) Find the kick panel.
3)Inside the kick panel look around in there to find a chip of somesort. (Everything thats supposed to be in there should be nice and neat)
4) Further elaboration the chip will usually have a tag on it saying Diablo, SCT, etc.

If you still cant find it find a tack hammer and hit yourself
