Default Water temp and Voltage gauges??

I recently recieved my water temp and voltage gauge and a buddy of mine and I attempted to install. Well we thought we had everything correctly but nothing seems to work and i think wires are getting put in a wrong spot such as the fuse box. So i am attempting to start fresh and have everything layed out with the gauges placed waiting to be wired up. Has anyone installed these gauges before? The directions just don't help us that much. We even asked his dad who is a certified mechanic and we still were not making progess with his advice. So any help would be appreciated or any "how to's" on these items. Thanks, I appreciate the help.

As of right now nothing is hooked up

here is the instruction diagram:

Water Temp Gauge:

Green - (signal wire) > temp sensor
Red - (ACC ON)
Black - ( - / ground)
White - Night Lamp
Orange - Battery (+)

Voltage Gauge:

Red - (ACC ON)
Black - (-/ Ground)
White - Night Lamp
Orange - Battery (+)

I understand the orange ones for the battery, black for the ground, i have my night lamp tapped into, but the green and red have me confused. I took the stock bolt out and put the new one in with the sender and it has a red and black wire coming off of it now which wires would they hook in to? by the way, there was an orange snap on connector piece that slid off the stock bolt and it had a red wire with a white stripe on the side tied into it...does this wire play any part? Thanks
