What size tires do I need to look for, for 17x9 rims. Im not sure what all the numbers mean in tire sizes, so anything will help. I was reading that anything too much bigger can cause brakes not to work right. Do i need to worry about this?

has to be atleast a 275/40/17.

and so you know the first number is the wide of the tire in MM

the 2nd is the height of the tires sidewall.

and last is the size of rim it will fit.

Hope this helps. you cna go up to a 295 on that rim as well.

Unless your going with 20"ers or better you don't need to worry about brakes. A 275/40/17 would be just right. Look for something that has at least a "A" rating on traction and temperature.

The 2nd one is actually a percentage. With the "at least" tire used by spike it would be 40% of 275mm. The second number (tire height off rim) is the percentage of the first number (tire width).
