Default quadrashock removal=traction?

I have a 2000 mustang and i was doing some reading online. I have the rear end out of the car and i am doing the upper and lower control arms and going to a 31 spline setup. I am setting this up for a street/strip car. I was seeing that alot of ppl are removing thier quadrashocks and they say that they are getting better traction. Has anyone done this and what does it help/hurt?

Well from what I've heard those gay little quad-shocks are pretty much useless.

I can't compare before and after, but my car has stock upper and MM lowers with the Quads removed and I've managed some low 1.8 60' times.. I think most everyone just takes them out.

A lot of people take them out after upgrading the lower control arms. I've left mine in since they can't hurt due to the fact that it's still the sorry quadra-bind system.

I took mine out to save the weight when I added Lakewood lower control arms. I also removed the dog bone (the large weight on the rear axle) when I took off the quad shocks and installed the lower control arms.

i just changed to solid upper and lower control bbk control arms. Both sets are not adjustable. Should i be ok taking my quadras out. I dont want it to handle like crap or hop all over the place. thanks

Ford put them in to increase traction, as it helps to dampen the axle's oscillations when wheel hop occurs. Removing them won't lower your times but, since they are no longer necessary due to the new uppers/lowers, experiment. If you notice no change after removing them, leave them off. Otherwise, put them back. For me, the MM lowers were enough, though the worn upper bushings aren't helping me now.
