Default 2010 Mustang Vert

Was just checking up on consumerguide.com... they have the 2010 mustang vert weighing in at 100 pounds less than the 2010 coupe.

Did it not occurr to you that maybe the fact that they cut a giant piece of metal off of the car might cause this?

Good eye, pretty interesting. I guess they've come up with some lightweight materials for them now.

Convertibles have been heavier previously...

Don't forget that you are adding in the weight of the convertible motor and hardware. Not just simply cutting off the roof and throwing a rag on top lol.

Correct, and there is usually added bracing to the frame of the car to counteract the fact that there is no roof, which would normally add a lot of rigidity. But yeah, if you literally cut off the top of a coupe mustang it would be all sorts of wobbly. Most people think verts are lighter weight, because they have vinyl instead of metal. Usually they are 200 lbs heavier.

It also says that the vert has more cargo volume, not so sure about that. Don't verts have smaller trunks becuase of the top? Also, about the weight, I read a long time ago that the new platforms are alot more solid then the sn95 cars. It may just be the Shelbys becuase that was I was reading about. But they had to had minimal extra bracing to make the cars rigid so as to not add alot of weight. But it shouldn't make it lighter becuase we all know that the Shelby's are mammoths.

That I can attest to. I rented an 07 V6 convertible to drive to Beckley, W VA to pick my step son up. Never thought about the trunk space until I seen the luggage. Yes, it was a VERY tight fit. The trunk in the red one is pretty good size, much bigger than the vert's trunk.

did it occur to you that before you attend Wyoshit you should know that verts weigh more... that tin peice of roof weights nothing compared to the extra structural support that a vert has so it is still stable
