Default Explorer block can handle?

Thinkin about goin with an aluminum block over an iron. I know explorer blocks are aluminum. I'm lookin for about 450hp for the mean time... the most I'll go is 550. I'm just not sure if the block can handle it or not being aluminum. If anyone knows how to answer this question I'd appreciate it.

I don't see why the block couldn't handle it. Mach 1's have aluminum blocks and there are lots of guys pushing more than 450hp with them. The issue making sure your internals can handle it....forged pistons ect....

I'm running an explorer block and I was told it can handle a 1000+ hp. You should be fine.

Thanks man. So everything mounts right up correct? Basicly the same design as the iron I have now.

It's all the same as the iron block. Good luck with your project.

03-04 Cobra is an Iron block not Aluminum. That explorer block is good for well past what you want to do so no worries.
