2004 STANG GT, W H&R SPRINGS ADDED SYSTEM, BACKS TO LOW (HELP)

Question 2004 STANG GT, W H&R SPRINGS ADDED SYSTEM, BACKS TO LOW (HELP)

I have a 2004 Mustang Gt and it has 1.5 lowering springs on it, but a added a pretty sweet system. Now the back of the car sits about 1/2 inch lower them the front. I'm also in the process of changing the wheels and tires and I'm going to put on 18x10's how is the best way to raise it up the 1/2 inch to inch? I've had so many people tell me different ways I'm confused.

I was told by one company to put on the stock springs and if its not low enough to cut the stock springs.

I was to another company to put on adjustable shocks. Will this actually raise the car up? I thought this will only adjust the ride quality Firm or not!

And finally I was to by two other company's to change the lower control arms and put on adjustable control arms (this will let you raise the rear 2 inches or lower it 1 inch) and also put in better shocks since I have the stock one and I have 58,000 miles.

Which is the best way to do it????

im confused about your suspension setup.

what type of springs do you have? Ford? H&R, Eibach?

also what has been sone to the suspension that results in it sitting 1/2 inch lower than the front?


get some pics of this, let us see the gap you have in front and back between wheel and well. i cant think of a reason you would need to raise the back, the 18;s should fit fine regardless.

if the back of the mustang is sitting 1/2 inch lower than the front it sounds like something is not installed right

i misread, i thought you added a suspension system.... you mean you added a stereo system

Good god man what the **** did you install there to drop the back end down 1/2 inch?

Did you install a stereo or a PA setup?

lol...

I have H&R sport springs. But I added a pretty big stereo system which probably weights about 100 lbs.

Yeah its pretty loud, I went to my budy that ownes a stereo shop and told him I need it a little bit louder because of the flowmater exhaust with no cats I can't hear the stock stereo to good and so he put in a pretty serious system. Lets put it this way the wind shield flexes pretty good and the cops can really hear me before they see me when I'm leaving the local bar. OPPS LOL. What do you think would be the best way to raise it up?

phs.... i dunno, i wouldnt put the stock springs back in, does H&R make a spring package with a little bit less of a drop?

honestly this is the first time i have heared of somone having this issue.....

you might want to try replacing the rear shocks. 58k miles, they probably could stand to be replaced. New shows should prevent the stereo from dropping it that much.

keep an eye on this thread, im sure somone here has seen this issue before and might have a better solution.

Throw in a spacer between the coil and perch or put poly isolators out back and either keep or remove the rubber ones up front.

but will shocks actually raise up the rear of the car 1/2 - 1 inch???

Wouldn't adjustable control arms w Tokico HP's be a better solution?

welcome to my world.. i have to kicker 12s in my trunk and i build 2 seperate boxes so i could squeeze them but there's NO trunk room left and i've noticed how it sits lower in the rear... maybe u should try a carbon fiber box.. lol, jk but i've been thinkin about how one would work and would like to see it done.. (i dont have the money or know-how to fab one up)..

You have three options really here.

1-put a coil spacer on the rear of the car to raise it up, will make it ride worse.
2-Pull the front isolators out off the springs, it will lower the front around 1/2".
3-Get weight jacker control arms which allow you to raise or lower the spring perch. Which wont change spring rates and will help get rid of wheel hop and give you more traction.

If you don't already have lower control arms then I would go with option 3 and get rid of the stock lower control arms with adjustable ones.
